Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you order.

  • A standard UK single mattress measures 90cm wide by 190cm long. Some single mattresses are available in a 90 x 200cm 'long single' format — the size is always clearly listed on each product page. All our single bed frames are designed to fit the standard 90 x 190cm size unless otherwise stated.

  • For a guest bed that sees occasional use, a medium-firm pocket sprung or open coil mattress offers great value and comfort. If the single bed is in regular daily use, we'd recommend a memory foam or pocket sprung option for better long-term comfort and durability.

  • Yes — standard single mattresses (90 x 190cm) fit all our kids bed frames that take a single size, including car beds, bunk beds, and cabin beds. For bunk beds, check the mattress depth doesn't exceed 15cm to maintain the required guard rail clearance on the top bunk.

  • Yes — a single mattress is appropriate for any solo sleeper regardless of age. For adults taller than 6ft, we'd recommend checking whether a 200cm long single is available in your chosen mattress style. Our full range of constructions is available in single size.

  • Store a single mattress flat if possible — storing it on its side for extended periods can cause the fillings to shift and the mattress to deform. If you need to store it upright briefly during a move, limit this to a few days. Keep it in a cool, dry place in a breathable mattress storage bag.
